About the Role

Summary:

The People & Culture Business Partner (15-18 months maternity leave coverage) will be a key member in helping define and drive the P&C strategy for Miura Canada. Providing support to the National People and Culture Manager, this role will be responsible for a wide range of Human Resources and People and Culture competencies.

This role will be a contract position for 15-18 months and will be defined throughout the recruitment process.

Responsibilities

  • Culture Catalyst: be a positive cultural change agent by identifying areas of opportunity and assist in developing solutions to drive talent diversity, employee engagement, and high performance.
  • Collaborate with leadership to define and drive the People and Culture Strategy
  • Act as a strategic advisor and consultant to leaders within the business in all areas such as policy interpretation, employee relations, performance management, etc.
  • Recruitment: collaborate with department leaders on full-cycle recruitment needs and become a true expert on positions at Miura
  • Advise, design, and implement programs, processes, and policies that align the business with our People and Culture strategy
  • Health and Safety: be a support and driver in the areas of Health and Safety and take ownership of WSIB filing and case management
  • Benefits and Pension Administration and Management

About You

About the Position:

The duties revolve around reading and interpreting welding blueprints, drawings, and manuals, as well as fabricating, laying out, and fitting pressure vessels. You’ll also install nozzles and fasten components together using tack welds. For a full list of responsibilities, please see below.

This position requires you to be onsite 5 days a week from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. These shifts will be completed Monday to Friday.

Principal Responsibilities:

As the Pressure Vessel Welder, your duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, and technical manuals;
  • Fabricate, layout and fit pressure vessels (i.e. shells, heads, internal and external attachments) and install nozzles;
  • Knowledge and experience with MIG for mild steel;
  • Install nozzles; cut holes and metal parts by using oxy-fuel torches;
  • Fasten components together using tack welding;
  • Work in a safe manner according to the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Requirements and Competencies:

  • Minimum 1-year experience on full penetration welding on piping in compliance with company fabrication procedures, industry-standard American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) codes and company Welding Procedure Specification (WPS)
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong team player as well as the ability to work independently;
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and measurement tools;
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs.

Additional Skills Considered an Asset:

  • Operate other shop equipment and be familiar with general steel manufacturing practices;
  • Operate grinder and band saws;
  • Practical experience in overhead crane operation.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Salary: $24.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

Experience:

  • Pressure Vessel (PV): 1 year (required)
  • 2g open root horizontal welding: 1 year (required)

Job Summary

  • Assemble boiler parts such as gas trains, water pipes, economizer piping, oil piping, and wind boxes (average weight handled varies from 5-20 lbs) using hand tools, air tools, and overhead crane
  • Assemble boiler parts onto boilers based on drawings and work orders. Uses hand tools, air ratchets, ladders (8′ – 10′ ladders), overhead cranes and jib cranes. Electrical wiring on circuit boards
  • Performs other duties as required such as electrical shop test on boilers by using shop test procedures and various testing equipment

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Must be able to work from Monday to Friday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
  • 1-2 years experience with manufacturing, heavy equipment facility
  • Completion of high school. Industrial trade school or HVAC education will be considered a strong asset
  • Experience with reading drawings or blueprints is an asset
  • Experience with piping
  • Analytical, problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift and use hand tools
  • Knowledge and ability to follow health and safety procedures and rules
  • A desire to learn and for long-term employment opportunities
