Your steam boilers are critical to the efficiency and profitability of your manufacturing plant or facility. Many of you rely on them to provide steam to heat, sterilize and power multiple aspects of your production line. With such an important role to fulfill, the goal of steam boiler repairs can often be to maintain steam production at all costs. This means many systems are suffering from years of hurried and temporary repairs. Unfortunately, years of cosmetic fixes can leave your steam boiler in a fragile state, leading to more severe issues suddenly arising.

Now the real cure is proper and timely boiler maintenance. Miura’s service team has the experience and skills to keep your system running well for decades. But if the damage is done and your old system gives out at a critical time there are 2 options to get you back up and running ASAP.

When a steam boiler unexpectedly fails, you have two options:

  1. Renting a temporary steam boiler while waiting for a new replacement
  2. Buying a new steam boiler quickly through a program like Miura’s Quick Ship Xpress (QSX) program

Miura's Quick Ship Xpress

Interim rental boilers are usually necessary because boiler manufacturers typically need to build a new replacement boiler to spec. Miura decided to circumvent this primary delay with our Quick Ship Xpress (QSX) program. Providing the perfect solution for faulty steam boilers that need replacing fast, an always in-stock boiler replacement.

In Ontario & Quebec, Miura can get an new boiler to you through our Quick Ship Xpress program – along with any auxiliary equipment needed – in as little as 24 – 72 hrs. Your facility gains all the efficiencies that come with our modular water-tube boiler systems, including space savings due to our boilers’ compact design, rapid start-up times, lower NOx emissions, remote monitoring functionalities, and more just days after your system first breaks down.

Pros & Cons of the Quick Ship Xpress Program

Pros

  • Speed; Miura doesn’t manufacture our QSX steam boilers on speculation; we keep stock aside for when our clients need them. What this means is you won’t need to wait for your boiler, it can be shipped within 72-hours after you’ve ordered and paid for it.
  • Space Savings; If your facility doesn’t have the space for a whole trailer outside your facility, slipping in a compact QSX unit is quick and easy.

Cons

  • Not Dual Fuel; QSX boilers include only Miura’s LX-series which are single fuel models. Miura’s EX-series of dual-fuel boilers are not part of the program and so if your facility needs a dual-fuel boiler system checin with your rep for lead-time.
  • No customization; Because QSX units are in-stock and ready to go there are minimal if any modifications or custom parts. You are getting a stock, high-efficiency, low-NOx Miura boiler with no customizations.

Pros & Cons of Boiler Rental

Pros

  • Ease; if getting back up and running is paramount then the ease of parking a rental trailer outside and hooking everything up without removing the existing boiler first or making space in your facility for a temporary boiler room set up could make all the difference.
  • Space Savings; if you are in the middle of a renovation or upgrade finding space in your boiler room for a temporary boiler might be impossible. Our boiler trailer can be put in place outside your facility and hooked up to your existing pipes. Leaving you space and time to get your renovations done for your new boiler unit.
  • Complete Solution; The rental trailer is complete and has a full water treatment system including water softener system and chemicals so you are guaranteed the best quality steam from our rental trailer.

Cons

  • Expense; When you rent a boiler you are paying twice, once for the rental and again for the new installation. Plus, you have two instances of production shut down for the emergency and rental install and then for the final installation and start up of your new system.
  • Older model; A rental boiler will never be a brand new model. Though it will be well maintained, it will be an older model that’s been used in different locations to provide emergency steam.
  • Time; Depending on the location of the trailer and your location it may take some time to get a rental boiler in your hands. If time is of the essence then consult your Miura rep about what the timelines and options are available to you.
